SCTip: Olympiacos taking a chance

While it was no surprise that both Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb will lose to Bayern (0:3, 0:5) none tought they will both be able to triumph over Arsenal. Results so far would suggest these two sides are quite similar in their potential however Greek side did have a much convincing campaign so far. Theiur defeat to Bayern saw them put up a good fight even if they didn’t manage to score. Dinamo on their other hand allowed only 5 goals mainly due to the fact that Bayern losened up the pressure in 2nd half which made this loss a little less of a fiasco.

Nevertheless, both of them now have a chance to leave Arsenal behind in a head to head clash on Maksimir. Home side won’t have defender Sigali available along with longterm injured defender Schildenfeld while forward Ademi is suspended after failing drug test after Arsenal match. Olympiacos will have Milivojevic back on disposal after two match ban while MAnuel de Costa and Dominguez have a good chance to play after recovering from injuries. Bouchalakis, Maniatis and Cambiasso are all out.

Dinamo can’t really prepare for matches like this as local top divison doens’t offer competitors of this level. In all of their attempts to progress from group stage Dinamo failed in all of them (including UEFA Cup). Their miraculous win over Arsenal was a break of a 15 years long winless streak in Champions League group stage (99/2000 3:0 win over Sturm Graz). Current state of affairs in the club and Croatian football in general offers no reason for optimism. Playing it safe with a +0 asian handicap as guests might be content with a draw here.
